Welsh water is cold, so the suit matters
UK surf water runs roughly 8C in February and peaks at 18C in late August, and Welsh coast water sits at the colder end of that range. A badly fitting kids wetsuit flushes cold water through every duck dive, which means one surf lesson and they never want to go back. Pick the right thickness and the right fit and it stops being a fight.
3/2 for summer, 4/3 for the rest
Most Welsh families end up with a 4/3 as the main suit because it covers spring, autumn and the cold patches of summer. A 3/2 is a nice second suit for July and August holidays.
