How to Choose the Right Thickness
The general rule for UK conditions is 3mm boots and gloves from October through November, stepping up to 5mm from December to February when Welsh water temperatures are at their coldest. A 2mm or 3mm hood handles most conditions once you add one, though some surfers prefer going without in all but the coldest weather.
