Channel Islands Surfboards
Channel Islands is Al Merrick's brand, and Al Merrick has shaped boards for Kelly Slater, Tom Curren and Dane Reynolds. We stock a small but proper selection of the models that actually work in UK waves, Happy, Two Happy, Fever, Neck Beard, and the occasional step-up. These aren't boards you buy lightly, and we won't sell you the wrong one. Call ahead or pop in if you want a chat about volume and dims.

The shaper's shaper
Al Merrick started shaping in Santa Barbara in the seventies and has been refining templates ever since. CI boards ride differently because the foils, rockers and concaves have been picked over by world champions for decades. Every millimetre is there for a reason.
The models we stock
The Happy and Two Happy are the everyday high-performance shortboards, Fever is the small-wave weapon, Neck Beard is the fuller, chunkier groveller for when Rest Bay is weak. We occasionally get step-ups in for autumn, ask if you're looking for one.
Build a full quiver: surfboards | fins | leashes | deck grips | men's wetsuits
Fitted from Porthcawl
We're five minutes from Rest Bay, so we know what works in UK beachbreak. If you're stepping up from a foamie or switching from a chunkier shape, come in and we'll talk volume honestly, not just sell you the pretty board on the rack.
Low stock, premium shapes, no fluff.
